The Molynor complex, located in the port of Mejillones, is a Molymet subsidiary specializing in the production of molybdenum trioxide and commercial by-products such as sulfuric acid and copper. Molynor faces the strategic challenge of reducing the production cost per pound, with energy being the most addressable cost component for reduction.
This challenge aims to identify and implement energy efficiency solutions, primarily focused on improving the efficiency of fans and compressors, optimizing fuel usage (diesel and LPG), and developing other cross-cutting solutions to reduce the complex’s total energy consumption.
The specific objective is to reduce the energy cost per pound of molybdenum trioxide by at least 7%.

How will we evaluate your solution?
A technology will be considered successful if it achieves a reduction in energy consumption of at least 7%.
It is important to note that fuel-related solutions must not involve a change in the energy matrix. Furthermore, any sensors or equipment installed must be compatible with the specific temperatures and working environments of the processes.
