Lab activity scheduling tool

What we are looking for?

CMPC has three R&D laboratories in Chile and Brazil. To manage analysis requests, they currently use a task management platform where they must establish the entire workflow, from receiving demands through forms to delivering final results to their requesters.

However, an area for improvement has been identified in the activity scheduling phase. Currently, task assignment is done completely manually. This process consumes a significant amount of time, and the assignment is not performed optimally considering their resources and demand, which directly impacts their operational efficiency and their ability to maximize the workload of each analyst.

This challenge looks for a digital tool that, integrated with Monday.com, can operate as an intelligent scheduling engine to optimize laboratory workload management.

This solution must be capable of processing key equipment information (capacities, availability, and usage rates) and staff availability to generate a realistic and optimized work schedule as soon as a new analysis requirement is received.

The goal is to replace the hours currently dedicated to manual scheduling by the laboratory manager. This will allow for maximizing available capacity, which will result in increased efficiency and, ultimately, a significant improvement in the response rate and the timeliness of result delivery.

Additionally, it must also generate reports for decision-making and visualization of compliance and efficiency.

How will we evaluate your solution?

The key performance indicators (KPIs) they aim to impact are:

  • Achieve automatic scheduling of activities.
  • Increase scheduling based on availability and efficiency.
  • Increase the laboratory’s capacity utilization rate by maximizing the productive time of each analyst and equipment, while reducing idle time.

Priority will be given to systems that are user-friendly, require minimal manual data entry, and allow for the customization of functionalities and outputs according to the company’s specific needs.
