Solutions to improve the performance of fire-damaged wood in lumber operations

What we are looking for?

Forest fires generate loss of characteristics in wood that reduce its performance, resulting in a loss of quality and creating challenges in its subsequent processing. This is because the wood experiences a loss of moisture content, stiffness of the bark, and is affected by fungi and larvae. In response to this, we are looking for solutions that enhance the performance of this wood in lumber operations, including specific methodologies to handle it, specialized equipment for processing, and treatments that improve its characteristics for plywood or sawing processes.

How will we evaluate your solution?

We are looking for solutions that allow the use of fire-damaged veneer in the plywood process to achieve the required adhesion with the adhesive (American standard PS01, 85% adhesion).

We are also seeking solutions that prevent the spread of blue stain from the fire-damaged stage until its incorporation into the industrial process.

We are expecting to find

Treatments to prevent the entry of pathogens

Treatment to restore moisture, flexibility

Treatments to erase or stop the spread of stains

Manufacturing of plywood (veneer) using fire-damaged raw materials

Recommendations to apply
